this is what i’m talking about!!! Mal gets it… in other leagues/tourneys from text’s “glory days” we used to drop 40-60 bars just cuz we didn’t like something someone said on the forum. it was all about writer’s clout. win or lose, niggas got their respect, fear & admiration for being able to go the distance. i’ve seen dudes who could write me under the table with a keystyle never even get a title shot cuz they couldn’t go the distance when it mattered. 16’s are a dope way of measuring lyrical skill & efficiency, but lyrical dexterity & endurance are what separate the wolves from the dogs. any breed can have a championship dog, but put that dog in the wilderness & see what happen…
that said, it’s always at the discretion of the league runner or tourney host & in this case, Bags has made it clear on multiple occasions that he values shorter rounds for accessibility, which i understand completely & absolutely hated at first, but it’s a method i actually came to value the merit of. shit forces you to be a more concise writer which definitely put tools in my rhyme bag that will be universally beneficial.
anyway, that’s why i requested 24.. i was originally gonna push for 30 but i knew that’s a lot to ask for. 24 is a nice compromise & allows niggas to breathe a bit more.
i never like finishing verses & feeling like there’s more that needed to be said. that’s almost always the case with anything less than 20 bars/lines.
i like the poll option though. that was a good idea @Bag/Virb whoever it was that suggested it.

I also don't get what "conventional way" is supposed to mean here. Imo, Virb writes in the most conventional battle rap style ever: Tons of multisyllabics and creative punches. I actually think Jack writes more unconventionally with the heavy end of Merriam-Websters all over the place.

I ain't riding anything.. I critiqued some of Virb's stuff at length. But honestly, I was quite surprised when Jack won the last battle. But in general, I think the voting on this site might as well be done with a bunch of numbers on the ground and various animals choosing their spots.
i really like the back & forth. there are a lot of opinions & good points being touted. fact is, with the clash of styles & cultures, there will never be consensus lol. that’s the beauty and the beast of rap.
objectively, yeah this match could’ve gone either way, but last battle would’ve been just as decisive had it not been closed at 2 votes due to time constraints. i could be champ by now damnit lol.

lol @ virb being wack though he’s been writer of the tourney no matter what happens in the final and has been dropping some of the dopest and somehow freshest flips I’ve seen (in 2025!) all incorporated with a hybrid live battle/online text battle style. In my own humble opinion Ofc people are free to feel differently opinions are like ass holes we all have one and virb somehow seems to be pining to be inside them
